Pernille has vast experience within the field of ion transport processes in the heart and brain and especially with examining the connection between inherited arrhythmias, cardiac potassium ion channel function and biophysical characterization of pharmacologically modulated ion channels in the heart and brain.

Before joining Plougmann & Vingtoft, Pernille worked in a Department of Safety Pharmacology at a Danish pharmaceutical company with focus on preclinical development of in vivo and in vitro central nervous system and cardiac methods. Prior to this, she did research at PHARMA, University of Copenhangen, in the field of pharmacology, especially with in vivo and in vitro migraine models. Lately, Pernille worked as a postdoc at the University of Copenhagen from where she holds her Ph.D. from the graduate school of Neuroscience.

Pernille has extensive experience in the fields of electrophysiology - including two-electrode voltage-clamp measurements in Xenopus laevis oocytes, patch-clamp of various cell lines and neurons - cell culture techniques, basic molecular biology and imaging techniques, and in vivo and in vitro pharmacology.

As a pharmacist by profession, Pernille is a drug specialist who has extensive knowledge of pharmacy (drug formulation and production), chemistry, biology and quality control (GxP).
