Jacob Mikkelsen has a Master's degree in engineering from the technical university of Denmark. The benefit of a modern engineering degree covering electronics, computing and physics, as well as traditional subjects such as optics and electromagnetic wave theory, and other theoretical aspects of physics gives Jacob an excellent base on which to practice as a patent attorney.
Jacob began his career in research and development working as a software engineer developing software for radar systems as well as telecommunication systems and satellite communication systems. Jacob's IP career started in 2003 and he is a qualified European Patent Attorney and European Design Attorney. His work spans technical fields ranging from software, especially communication software, imaging software, financial instruments and web-based systems, photonics, telecommunication systems, medical devices, equipment for nano- and micro-scale electrical characterization of materials and processing solutions for the food industry.
Jacob has enjoyed tremendous success before the Opposition Boards and Examination Boards of the European Patent Office. Jacob Mikkelsen has represented companies ranging from high-tech university spin-outs to multinational companies.
Jacob’s creative approach means that he is particularly adept at taking on difficult software and computer implemented inventions.
Furthermore, Jacob has participated in litigation of patents, on both sides of the table, defending suspected infringers against allegations of patent infringement, and he has prepared infringement opinions for patent proprietors.
