In 2011, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (also known as EUIPO) launched a Convergence Programme, seeking to establish a harmonisation of practices and legislation on trademarks and designs within EU.
This is an ongoing effort and recently the EUIPO appointed our Head of Trademarks Ellen Breddam to represent the International Trademark Association (INTA) in the new convergence programme CP9, which focuses on on Distinctiveness of shape marks containing other elements when the shape itself is non-distinctive.
The first meetings will take place this Wednesday and Thursday in Munich. Read more about the Convergence Programme here.
