The UK Intellectual Property Office announced yesterday that the UK now intends to ratify the agreement to implement the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Although there is still a fair amount of uncertainty and quite a few details that remain to be worked out, in light of this rather surprising announcement there is once again speculation that the Unitary Patent system could be implemented relatively soon, possibly by the end of 2017. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates on our website as the situation develops.
