Four of our trademark experts appointed committee members of INTA

Every year the International Trademark Association (INTA) appoints committees that they trust to help contribute with a positive development of INTA’s strategic objectives. We are proud to announce that four of our trademark experts will be influential in such committees in 2020/2021.

INTA is a non-profit organization that includes 31,000 trademark professionals from small enterprises to large corporations and law firms. Every year, INTA appoints the committee members they trust to advance INTA’s mission: “to support trademarks and related intellectual property (IP) to foster consumer trust, economic growth, and innovation” (Source: INTA).

Several of our experts are already committee members at INTA and they have achieved important milestones for trademark owners. In the coming year, our experts will be able to influence the following committees: “Internet Committee”, “Trademark Office Practices Committee”, and “Enforcement Committee”.

The focus areas of 2020/2021

Lars Karnøe, Head of Legal in Danmark and Stine Sønstebø, Head of Legal in our Norwegian department, will be on the “Internet Committee”. Here, they will focus on developing policies regarding the use of trademarks in domain names. In addition, they will monitor developments in e.g. internet governance and social media.

“The work in INTA’s Internet Committee allows me to influence the rules that affect my work as arbitrator in international domain name cases”, says Lars Karnøe, who looks forward to contribute to more logic, uniform conditions for the firms that rely on an online global presence.

Our Head of Trademarks, Ellen Breddam, will be on the “Trademark Office Practices Committee” where she will work to improve the relation between INTA and the different European trademark offices. This will include efforts to promote more transparent rules for the trademark industry.

I look forward to promote better and more transparent rules for our line of work, which will benefit our clients and business partners

European Trademark and Design Attorney, Henriette Vængesgaard Rasch, will be part of the “Enforcement Committee” where she will deal with legislative initiatives and convert insight into relevant political recommendations for the INTA Board.

Henriette sees a great advantage in being able to put relevant issues on the authorities’ agenda. She explains: “In INTA’s committee, we can influence the development and contribute to find solutions to subjects that are relevant for our clients’ business”.
