Highlights from 2025 at Plougmann Vingtoft

2025 has been a year filled with events, international activities and strong team experiences at Plougmann Vingtoft. Here’s a look back at some of this year’s highlights.

Global perspectives and conferences

This year has brought exciting international trips, where our team represented Plougmann Vingtoft on the international IP stage. We visited destinations such as Canada, USA, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul, strengthening relationships, exchanging knowledge and staying up to date with the latest trends in intellectual property.

We also attended major conferences and trade fairs, including INTA’s Annual Meeting in San Diego, APAA in Kuala Lumpur and SPIE Photonics West 2025 in San Francisco. These events provided valuable insights and created new connections that strengthen our international network. We were equally delighted to welcome several overseas partners to our offices – always a pleasure and an important part of building strong collaborations.

In September, Plougmann Vingtoft participated in the Nordic Innovation Fair 2025.

Closer to home, we took part in Nordic Innovation Fair in Copenhagen, where Nordic researchers and businesses presented around 130 commercial opportunities. It’s a unique platform for networking and knowledge sharing, and we’re already looking forward to next year.

Three startups receive IP Matters

This year, IP Matters was awarded for the seventh time to three promising startups: Anorit Medical, Biopulp+ and Zostera-Marina, each receiving IP consulting worth DKK 50,000. The initiative supports Danish startups in protecting their intellectual property and developing their business – with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 17 startups have so far received the IP Matters donation.

Anorit Medical is developing an automatic ventilation device for cardiac arrest, making resuscitation simple, effective and hygienic, especially for users with limited training. Biopulp+, originating from Organicum Biomass Ørbæk ApS, has created technology that reduces waste in the pre-treatment process where organic waste is converted into pulp for biogas production. Zostera-Marina works to create a sustainable future for marine ecosystems by restoring eelgrass in fjords and coastal areas, based on research and a newly developed method and technology.

Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year for the fourth time

Plougmann Vingtoft has once again established itself as a leading player in intellectual property. At the Managing IP EMEA Awards this spring, we received the prestigious title Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year – Denmark for the fourth time, recognising our experts’ high professional standards and dedication.

Our IPR experts Charlotte Søsted, Per Jørgen Nygreen, Vivian Nhu Vu Bui, Christian L. Christiansen, and Christina Engmark traveled to London to receive the prestigious award, Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year, on behalf of Plougmann Vingtoft.

In addition, five of our experts were named IP Stars 2025 by Managing IP: Ellen Breddam, Peter Sørensen, Katja Sørensen, Michael Friis Sørensen and Jan Mondrup Pedersen. Managing IP also named Ellen Breddam to the Top 250 Women in IP list for the third time.

This recognition is based on extensive research and recommendations from clients, partners and industry peers. Ida Rømer Johannesen and Jacob Schwalbe Lohmann were also named Rising Stars.

International recognition of our experts

We are proud to be ranked in the gold category by IAM Patent 1000 2025 as one of Denmark’s most trusted IP advisers and recognised in World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 2025 for our expertise in trademarks and design.

Ten of our patent attorneys were also honoured as Recommended Individuals in the bronze, silver and gold categories by IAM: Matteo Biancardo, Claus Elmeros, Christian L. Christiansen, Anette Hegner, Jan Mondrup Pedersen, Peter Sørensen, Per Jørgen Nygreen, Jakob Schwalbe Lohmann, Katja Sørensen and Michael Friis Sørensen. WTR highlighted both Plougmann Vingtoft in the gold category and our trademark team, led by Ellen Breddam, as a Recommended Individual in the silver category.

Welcoming new colleagues

This year, we have welcomed several new colleagues. European Patent Attorney Tine Bondo, Patent Attorney Associate Sif Julie Friis, and Patent Attorney Associate Steen Hansgaard Hansen have joined our patent department. Both Tine and Steen are part of our Life Science team, while Sif has joined our Technology & Software team.

Our trademark and design department has also been strengthened with the arrival of highly experienced expert in intellectual property, Senior European Trademark & Design Attorney Louise Christina Thorning Ahle. In addition, Sandra Nørholm Kay has joined the reception at our headquarters in Hellerup.

Events throughout the year

The year has featured several exciting events. In January, we hosted an event at Messecenter Herning focusing on the latest trends in trademarks and design, as well as updates on UPC and the Unitary Patent. Later, we cheered on the national Danish men’s handball team as they defended their World Championship at Jyske Bank Boxen.

In the autumn, we invited guests to an event at the Opera House on the strategic use of patents and developments in trademarks and design. The day concluded with a guided tour and the spectacular musical West Side Story.

One of the highlights of the year was a company trip to Mölle in Sweden, where team spirit, reflection, and stunning natural surroundings strengthened relationships and collaboration across teams and disciplines. The weekend reminded us how important it is to invest in each other because it’s in those informal moments that we build the culture that makes Plougmann Vingtoft such a strong and inspiring place to be, both professionally and personally.

A customer event in January combined professional insights with an exciting experience: the Men’s Handball World Championship 2025.

On April 1, our Aarhus office moved to its new address: Bülowsgade 68, st. tv.

Grand Hotel Mölle provided the setting for Plougmann Vingtoft’s company trip to Mölle.

We also opened the doors to our new Aarhus office on 1 April – a milestone celebrated with a housewarming in the autumn. The year ended with a Christmas party in cozy surroundings and excellent food.

2025 has been an eventful year at Plougmann Vingtoft, full of challenges and memorable experiences. We look forward to the new year with the same commitment and dedication that have defined our work in 2025.
